Hurricane Dorian

Hurricane Dorian is expected to move close to the Florida east coast late tonight through Wednesday evening and then close to Georgia and South Carolina coasts on Wednesday night and Thursday.

Once a port is closed for a hurricane – to reopen it – the US Coast Guard Captain of the Port must ensure all channel markers and navigation aids are restored before the port can be authorized open for vessels to enter.

A summary of some of the operational impact at this time is below:

Miami, Port Everglades, Charleston, Jacksonville, Savannah ports remain closed. Re-opening will be determined following assessment of the impact of Dorian.

Due to uncertainty of Hurricane Dorian’s path, Florida East Coast (FEC) rail network remains closed. Norfolk Southern network remains open however in-gate restrictions for traffic interchanging to FEC remains in place. CSX network remains open with no gate restrictions in place however they are closely monitoring the storm path and may implement lane closures/gate restrictions on short notice.

Further updates will be sent in coming days. If you have any questions, please contact your local TransGroup station.
